Change Your Lifestyle in 2017

As we grow older we feel the strains of everyday living more and more. In our twenties we could drink all night and wake up with the smallest of hangovers. We could use as much energy as we wanted and not feel tired and need the odd rest or early night. Have you ever thought that maybe it isn’t just down to getting that little bit older and that making some small lifestyle changes could recharge you and reduce that fatigue?

Exercise releases endorphins that will make you feel happier and more energetic. By building a little more exercise into your life gradually, you will soon feel some real benefits in terms of your mental wellbeing as well as your physical health. Exercise brings all manner of positives, from feeling great to getting additional vitamin D through outdoor exercise and even weight loss and lowering of blood pressure; there are countless positives that you could introduce to your life.

A good way to get started with exercising is to do it with friends or to join a class, not only will it give you extra motivation to keep going, it will also give some extra socializing time. At first, you might find it difficult to get into to but after a couple of weeks your body will be thanking you for it and you will start to enjoy it more and more.

Another way to feel great is to do some charitable work, either helping out or fundraising. There are some wonderful causes that all could do with some extra help like Peace Hospice. Why not combine doing some exercise with charity fundraising? You could sign up for a sponsored walk or run and do some training in the lead up to the event. There are so many local causes like the hospice in the Chicago area.

If you are thinking of taking up running, there are some helpful training plans that you could use to build up your ability. If you need to lose weight, strengthen your muscles or lower your blood pressure then taking up walking or jogging is a lifestyle change that could really help you over the longer term.

One piece of advice – don’t try to do too much too soon. Setting yourself unrealistic targets will leave you feeling frustrated and even injured if you try to do too much without steadily building up your fitness. If you haven’t exercised for some time then you need to be cautious about how quickly you get going and if you are overweight, exercise should be accompanied by a healthy diet to help you to lose weight.

Here are some ideas for sports/exercise classes you could get into:

  • Cycling
  • Jogging
  • Aerobics
  • Water Aerobics
  • Body Balance (like Yoga)
  • Dance classes
  • Zumba

These are just a few ideas, there are absolutely loads out there. Take a look what is available in your local area.
