You've Got Money! Turn Your Spring Cleaning Into A Money Harvest |
| Sherri Bailey |
Virtually everyone who is reading this has at least five things in their home or garage that can be turned into cash. Whether you use eBay to turn your trash into treasure, a garage sale or even a consignment shop to make the switch from trash to cash, chances are you can have some extra money in your hands pretty quickly. If it's just taking up space or collecting dust anyway, why not magically turn it from your trash to someone else's treasure?
* Clothing. We don't mean just any clothing. No one wants to buy the sweatpants you've had since 1985. We're talking about name brand clothing. Clothing that you bought because you were sure you'd be a size one by now and never wore. Clothing given to you that has never been your taste. Or even better, namebrand clothing you bought your child that has no signs of wear. People LOVE clothing bargains and if you haven't worn it in six months, chances are you are never going to wear it.
* Legos. Kids love Legos, but like all toys, they eventually outgrow them. Rather than continually step on them in your carpet, sell them! They typically have a surprisingly high resale rate on eBay.
* Dishes. Not all dishes are created equal. If you have some "old" plates, bowls or other serving pieces that you don't care for, you may be sitting on a gold mine! Vintage dishes are a very hot item right now and many sell very well on eBay. Check out the stamp on the bottom of the piece and do a quick eBay or Google search to see what it's going for at the moment.
* Bathroom. If you are ready for a change in your bathroom, but your old set is still in great condition, you can sell it. Wash everything very well and sell as a set to include toothbrush holders and shower curtain rings.
* Books. Lots of people love to read, but only want to read a book once. If you have a great collection of books that are taking up space, why not sell them? There are lots of online places that will allow you to sell used books. Do a Google search to find them.
* Tools. If hubby is willing to part with extra tools, you may be able to turn those into cash. Used tools in good condition are always in great demand.
Walk through your house and ask yourself if you really have to keep that 1972 TV Guide collection or that stack of board games no one in your house has played with in five years. If you're going to get rid of it anyway, why not turn it into a little extra cash?
