Things to learn about a baby and attending a baby shower

Phil P
Baby Showers:

In the past few decades, baby showers have become more common, as families become smaller and as each child receives more individual attention. The men usually give the daddy-to-be diapers only because the mommy-to-be is getting other items at the shower. Baby showers, like bridal showers and bachelorette parties, are becoming open to new ideas, concepts, themes, games, and changes in etiquette.

"Pampers party" is also a mens-only shower, usually held the same night as the women's baby shower. In some regions, it is common to give party favors, small gifts for the guests. Among Americans, there is great variance in practices and themes of baby showers.

Here are some likely baby shower activities:

- Opening the gifts in front of the guests.

- Diaper throwing game, and the diapers have candies or chocolate stuff.

- Guess who's toy: One of the child's toy is placed in a bad and the guests have to feel inside the bag to guess the object and the owner.

Toys/Gift ideas and Toy facts:

In Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, children played with dolls made of wax or terra cotta, sticks, bows and arrows, and yo-yos. Children, especially very small ones, often put toys into their mouths, so the materials used to make a toy are regulated to prevent poisoning. The earliest toys were made from materials found in nature, such as rocks, sticks, and clay.

Thousands of years ago, Egyptian children played with dolls that had wigs and movable limbs which were made from stone, pottery, and wood. Sometimes intended as decorations, keepsakes, or collectables for older children and adults, most dolls are intended as toys for children, usually girls, to play with. Through play with toys infants begin to recognize shapes and colors.

Baby details and info

While still inside the mother, the infant could hear many internal noises, such as the mother's heartbeat, as well as many external noises including human voices, music and most other sounds. The umbilical stub will dry out, shrivel, darken, and spontaneously fall off within about 3 weeks. Babies can learn to signal to the parents when it is time to urinate or defecate by turning or making noises.

The doctor will examine the baby and ask about the symptoms to help exclude any other disorders that may be causing the crying. A baby's social presence is different from that of adults, and they may be the focus of attention. Newborn infants have unremarkable vision, being able to focus on objects only about 18 inches (45 cm) directly in front of their face.
