Despite efforts to improve the plight of many Asian communities in the last 20 years, sadly there is still a great deal of work to do in order to support remote communities, educate on healthcare, food hygiene and literacy and to lift the millions who live in poverty out of their situation. There are several organizations operating across Asia who are making great progress in helping with the social issues that exist in this corner of the World. Today we are going to take a look at Gospel for Asia, one such organization that is working tirelessly to end poverty and famine and increase levels of education and opportunity.

The mission of this excellent organization is clearly stated on the Gospel for Asia website:

Our mission in life is to be devout followers of Christ and to fulfill the Great Commission among the unreached in Asia through training, sending out and assisting qualified laborers in partnership with the Body of Christ.”

Gospel for Asia works hard using these stern values to improve the thousands of lives across Asia, here are some of the excellent projects that they are working on and where they operate.

Locations

The organization covers a huge portion of Asia, predominantly in the south east, the current list of countries that Gospel for Asia serves are as follows:

  • Bangladesh
  • Bhutan
  • Cambodia
  • China
  • India
  • Laos
  • Myanmar
  • Nepal
  • Sri Lanka
  • Thailand

Gospel for Asia is continuously training missionaries to work in wider areas of Asia and year on year add more locations and communities to its list of those that receive the help of the organization.

Current Projects

The main aims of Gospel for Asia is to educate, give medical assistance and give hope and opportunity to those in need through the works of the gospel and the teachings of Christ. In order to reach this goal, there are several projects running across the continent, here are just a few of the programs in place.

  • Slum Ministry

This project focusses on some of the most impoverished people throughout Asia, there are millions of people living in slums who find it near impossible to escape. Gospel for Asia sends missionaries to the slums to educate inhabitants about the dangers of polluted water, dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, literacy, numeracy, job prospects and offers free medical centers that treat and educate.

  • Bridge of Hope

The Bridge of Hope project is aimed at Asia’s children, it provides more than 75,000 children throughout the continent with daily meals and free medical care. The program offers a range of education and teaches the children hope through the writings of the Gospel.

  • Improving Women’s Lives

One area of the organization which has seen a great deal of success is Gospel for Asia’s projects to help women in a variety of communities. Aiming to break down gender barriers and empower women, the project sends female missionaries into communities to work with women of all ages and teach them about a more liberal way of life and tries to break the shackles of tradition that exist in so many communities across the continent.

These are just 3 of several projects that the organization is working on and that is without mentioning the fast-paced disaster relief that Gospel or Asia offers. This is truly a wonderful organization that are doing great work in communities throughout Asia and they should be lauded for their efforts.
