NVIDIA’s latest line of video cards (GeForce 10 series) debuted in May 2016, just over a year ago. That same time it took one of them to become the most popular of all, at least on Steam: the GTX 1060.

The GTX 1060 is a mid-range card at a fairly tight price for what it offers, considering that it runs all current games at 1080p and 60fps without many complications and visual quality greater than a console.

Now, the interesting thing is that until a long time ago, the card most used in the realms of Steam was the GTX 970, a previous generation GPU that, according to NVIDIA classification, was high-end and not mid-range.

The issue is that the “new” GTX 1060 was launched at a super competitive price and currently can be found for around USD $ 250. Meanwhile, the card that follows in the pyramid (GTX 1070) has somewhat excessive prices.

It is also worth mentioning that NVIDIA put aside the suffix “M” on their cards to differentiate between desktop models and laptops, so in the list of Steam on the 1060 there is everything.

And AMD? Very down the list with the Radeon HD 7700. Considering Steam is basically the entire universe of PC gamers, NVIDIA undoubtedly has the market too dominated.

Those who thought to buy a video card soon, should know with the GTX 1060 bet on the safe.
