White House and Senate leaders reached a major agreement early Wednesday morning on a $2 trillion package to shake up the economy in the midst of the crisis over the coronavirus pandemic.

Full details had not yet been released, but in the last 24 hours, several elements of the proposal came to light: $250 billion reserved for direct payments to individuals and families, $350 billion in loans for small businesses, $250 billion in unemployment insurance benefits, and $500 billion in loans for struggling businesses.

The agreement has yet to be approved by Congress.
