Apple has closed the fourth and final quarter of fiscal year 2020 ended September 26th with revenue of $64.698 billion, a record figure achieved despite the fact that the launch of the iPhone 12 was delayed in late October. However, there is an impact on profits, which fall to $ 12,673 million, 8% less than a year ago. In addition, the company has announced that Apple One, the subscription that groups four Apple services, will be available from this Friday.
The results of Apple have been possible by the good performance during the last quarter recorded the Mac, which left in the coffers of the company $ 9,032 million, an increase of 30%, and Services, which contributed $ 14,549 million, 16% more than during the same period last year. In both cases we are facing figures never seen before. The iPad was not left behind with revenues of $6.797 billion, an increase of 45% over last year.
The absence of a new iPhone during the fourth quarter has been noted in the income from the sale of cell phones, which have stood at $ 26,444 million, 25% less than during the same quarter last year. Finally, we have Wearables, Home and Accessories with a contribution of $ 7,876 million, 20% more than a year ago. Due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 Apple has not made the forecast for next quarter, which will be responsible for collecting all sales of the iPhone 12.
“Apple ends a fiscal year defined by innovation in the midst of adversity, with a record September quarter, underpinned by the historic brands of services and Macs,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, during the presentation of financial results.
With regard to Apple One, it is a new initiative that brings together four Apple services (Music, TV+, iCloud and Arcade) in a single subscription. Those interested have two options, an individual subscription for 14.95 euros per month (with 50 GB in iCloud) or Family to share it with up to five people in exchange for 19.95 euros per month (with 200 GB in iCloud). In some markets like the United States there is a third alternative called Premier that for $29.95 per month also adds Apple News+, Apple Fitness+ and 2 TB in iCloud.
