The South African tycoon buys Twitter and the company joins the long list of companies owned by the richest man on the planet

Elon Musk decided to acquire Twitter, his first social network, valued at US$ 43,394 million. He offered US$ 54.20 for each Twitter share, which represents a 54% premium compared to January 28, when Musk started buying shares, explains Twitter in a statement sent to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The proposal of the tycoon, with a fortune US$ 219 billion, leads us to ask the question: how many companies does Elon Musk have?

Basically, his greatest success in the business world has come from Tesla. The electric car company has become one of the most profitable in recent years and, with a value of almost $100 billion, has become the true flagship of Elon Musk’s fortune.

Paypal

This is where it all began.

Platform founded in 1998, operates as a payment processor for online sellers, auction sites and other online business users and even physical merchants, for which it charges a percentage commission and fee. It is headquartered in California, USA.

The entrepreneur — who now holds the title of world’s richest man — got his start in Silicon Valley after he dropped out of Stanford University in 1995 and merged his payments company X.com to co-found PayPal, where he worked alongside other now-legendary entrepreneurs including Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman.

In 2002, eBay acquired PayPal for $1.5 billion in stock, giving Musk a personal fortune of $175 million.

SpaceX

Space Exploration Technologies Corp. is a U.S.-based aerospace manufacturing and space transportation services company. It was founded in 2002 with the aim of reducing the costs of space travel to facilitate the colonization of Mars.

Tesla

It is an American company based in Austin, Texas, and led by Elon Musk. It designs, manufactures and sells electric cars, as well as components for the propulsion of electric vehicles, solar roofs, solar photovoltaic installations and domestic batteries.

Elon Musk’s other companies

In addition, the entrepreneur is also co-founder of other companies such as Hyperloop, SolarCity, of which he is chairman, The Boring Company, Neuralink and OpenAI, where he holds the position of co-chairman.

Now, Twitter, one of the most prolific social networks in recent years, has been added to the list of major companies in the tycoon’s possession.
