It is a mistake to think that some people are born better than others. Each and every person has their own strengths, and each and every one of us can find some measure of success. We cannot find that success, however, when it is our own self-image and confidence that are holding us back. People need to believe in you in order to for you to succeed, and to earn that respect you must first believe in yourself.

So much of your ability is tied to your self-confidence, which is why you should follow these steps to achieving the self-love that will allow you to be the success you have always dreamed of being:

1.- Dress the Part

How you dress and how you express yourself are two very key components to your self-confidence. If you don’t dress in a way that feels true to you, you can just as easily feel like a stranger. Finding the right balance between creative expression, professionalism, and comfort is how you will go out into the world and feel great about yourself.

2.- Put Time and Effort Back into Your Body

If you treat yourself right, in time you will feel like you deserve great things. Hurting yourself is not how you learn to love yourself. Instead, take the extra time to make healthier meals. Find ways to add an exercise routine that works for you into your daily life. Do more of the things that make you feel good in your own skin. Spend a few extra minutes on your appearance in the morning, take more time styling your outfit, and so on. You would be amazed at how great you can feel when you simply spend time and effort on yourself.

3.- Compliment Yourself

Complimenting yourself can go a long way. It can also be very challenging to do. When you first give yourself compliments, it can feel silly. It might even feel like it doesn’t work, but stick with it. Positive affirmations can help put you in the right frame of mind for success. Even just hearing a compliment or statement over and over can help you internalize it, after all, and similarly saying something to the effect of “You are going to have a great day” can help you put yourself into the right frame of mind to be positive and confident in yourself and in others.

4.- Help Your Coworkers Out

Helping others is one of the best ways to feel confident in your abilities. Not only do you get the positive feedback from helping out a friend, you also are placed into a position of authority. This in turn can increase your self-worth and confidence.

Becoming more confident is the first step towards being the success you’ve always dreamed you could be. The second step is to take that confidence and speak up more. Be more assertive and show you can be a leader. You won’t always succeed, but unless you stop trying you won’t ever fail, and that is how you become the success you’ve always dreamed of being.
