Hard water can have different chemical compositions and different minerals in different regions. There are different types of water softeners available in the market. You can try these water softener to get rid of hard water problems and enjoy consumption friendly water.

Salt Based Ion Exchange Water Softener
Hard waters mainly consist of hard mineral ions such as calcium, magnesium and iron. Salt based water softener work on the concept of ion exchange, they mainly come with two water tanks: resin and brine. The mineral tank is filled with resin beads and the house pipe is connected to this tank. As water flows into this tank, the resin beads work to condition the water by attracting the excess hard ions thereby softening the water. The equipment replaces these hard ions with sodium or salt. The brine tank helps in water regeneration process. This is one of the most conventional and widely used type of water softener.

Salt Free Water Softener
This type of water softener works best for people who have concerns regarding consuming salt based water softener. This equipment uses potassium chloride as a substitute of salt during the softening process. It works best as a descaler and will help you if you are struggling with limescale building up in your pipes and appliances. However, it is not as effective in dealing with other hard water related problems as the conventional water softeners.

Dual Tank Water Softeners
The problem with single tank water softeners is that there is a downtime between the conditioning and regenerating process. This means that the softened water may not be immediately available while the regeneration is still in place. This could create problems in a household that is large and needs consistent supply of water. In such cases dual tank water softener works great as the dual tank ensures that one tank continues to supply water while the other is regenerating.
