7 Signs That You Need A New Roof

-

As years go by in your residence, it’s important to keep a close eye on the condition of your roof. A damaged or faulty roof can lead to a variety of problems for your home, including water damage and mold growth, which can lead to more major complications that will take a toll on your living space!

In this blog post, we will discuss seven signs that indicate you need a new roof. Keep an eye out for these signs, and if you notice any of them, don’t hesitate to call a roofing contractor! We will also give tips when you are already convinced to opt for a roof replacement!

Without time to waste, here are seven signs that say you are already in need of roof replacement:

Sign #1. Leak, leak, leak

Another typical clue that your roof needs to be repaired or replaced is a visible leak. Roof leaks can happen for a variety of causes, from deteriorated construction components to storm-related damage. Water can leak through all the tiles and into your space when the roofing materials deteriorate. During downpours, this results in water incursion and often-noticeable puddles. Roofers can plug or repair tiny leaks, but in many situations, the problem goes undiscovered until it is too late and requires a more extensive repair.

Look to replace your roof if you currently have a chronic leaking roof or many leaks all through the roof. The easiest method to determine the amount of the devastation is to have a qualified roofing contractor evaluate it.

Sign #2. Visible damage on the shingles

One of the first signs that you need a new roof is if you notice your shingles are curling up or cracked. These problems can be caused by a variety of factors, including age, sun damage, and improper installation. If you notice any of these issues, it’s important to call a roofer as soon as possible to get an inspection.

Sign #3. The surge in energy expenses

If your energy bills have been increasing, it could be a sign that your roof is no longer as energy-efficient as it once was. This problem is often caused by a buildup of dirt and debris on the roof, which can prevent heat from escaping your home. If you’ve noticed a sudden spike in your energy bills, it’s a good idea to get your roof checked out.

Sign #4. Moss and plant growing from your shingles

While moss may appear lovely in a dark spot of your lawn, it may be disastrous when it grows on your roofing. Mold and mildew (as well as lichen) are signs of moisture buildup, which can lead to the deterioration of a roof. Utilize a hard brush to remove moss from the edges of your rooftop, but don’t forget to fix any underlying issues.

Sign #5. Saggy roofing

Do you hear strange noises coming from your roof? If so, it could be a sign that your roof is beginning to sag. This problem is often caused by a weakening of the structure due to age or water damage. If you hear creaking, popping, or other strange noises coming from your roof, don’t ignore it! Call a roofer right away to have them take a look and get a new roof if necessary.

Sign #6. Storm damage

Roof replacements are frequently necessitated by storm damage. This is due to the fact that severe storms may do significant damage to roofs, regardless of how good they were before the disaster. Winter storms, downpours, tornadoes, and lightning storms are just a few examples.

Tornado and hurricane-prone locations are particularly vulnerable to this menace. As an example, strong winds can entirely remove tiles off a roofing, or elevate them and split them. The structure is vulnerable to leakage and ultraviolet invasion as a result. Damage to such can occur fast if heavy windstorms are accompanied by snow or rain. Wind-blown debris can damage the panels on your roofing.

Sign #7. Your roof is just old and outdated

Last but not least, you may simply need replacement because your current one is old and outdated. The average lifespan of a shingle roof is 20-25 years, so if your roof is approaching or past that age, it’s a good idea to start thinking about a replacement.

If you’re not sure whether you need a new roof, a good rule of thumb is to have it inspected by a roofer every five years. This will help you catch any problems early on and prevent them from becoming more serious (and expensive!) down the road.

Finding the best roofing firm for you!

There are a few things to consider when finding a professional roofing contractor. For example, you’ll want to make sure they are licensed and insured. You’ll also want to read reviews from past customers to get an idea of their quality of work. And finally, you’ll want to get a few estimates before making your final decision.

Another important thing to look at when finding for a roofing expert is the validity of their warranty. Roofing companies usually have a warranty for their work in case something goes wrong. This can give you peace of mind in knowing that if something goes wrong, you’re covered. Be sure to ask about the warranty before making your final decision on a roofing contractor.

With a little research, you should be able to find a roofing contractor that meets all of your needs.

  1. Your suggestion to use metal if you live in an area with lots of snow really helped to read. Considering how often we’ve had problems during the winter, I feel like using a material that can counteract that can make our Christmas season a lot easier. I’ll prepare as early as now by having a roofer replace our current roof with a metal one.
