Video games are increasingly being adapted to television series and movies that are released in theaters. In the future, the film Uncharted, starring a young Nathan Drake played by Tom Holland, is scheduled to be released, and HBO is also preparing a live-action series based on The Last of Us.
However, Sony Pictures’ plans go far beyond this. Tony Vinciquerra, the company’s executive director, told CNBC that as of today the team already has a total of ten projects underway based on PlayStation licenses, three of which will be movies, while the remaining seven will be television series.
Naturally, he didn’t want to go into detail about which will be those mysterious eight productions about which we don’t know anything at the moment. In fact, we’d better wait calmly, because he has stated that there is no planned date for the release of these projects, which are intended to be long-term in the coming years.
However, this leaves the door open to bets on what adaptations could be made. Perhaps we will end up seeing Kratos on the big screen, an animated series by Ratchet & Clank or a saga of Horizon Zero Dawn films. Anything is possible and we’ll have to wait until later to find out.
