The UN Security Council ratified on Saturday the imposition of new sanctions on North Korea, which could cut up to a third of the country’s annual exports, in retaliation for conducting two intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) tests.
The US-led resolution bans North Korea from exporting coal, iron ore, and shellfish, and other countries to incorporate more North Korean citizens into its workforce as well as joint investments.
