Paul Manafort, a former campaign chief for US President Donald Trump and his former business partner Rick Gates, have surrendered to authorities Monday to enforce an arrest warrant within the Russian plot investigation. Last Friday, Manafort was accused under summary secrecy and expected, as CNN reports, that the charges against him are brought to light on Monday. As the aforementioned means, the ex-campaigner of the US president has denied so far any financial crime for payments with Ukraine, for their accounts in overseas tax havens and their various real estate transactions.
Manafort resigned in August 2016
Trump’s former campaign chief resigned from office in August 2016 after coming to the light that he had secretly worked for the pro-Russian government of Viktor Yanukovych in Ukraine. “I am very grateful for his great work that has helped us get to where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us in the convention process. Paul is a true professional and I wish him great success,” said the American president after accepting his resignation.
