U.S. President Donald Trump has tested positive for coronavirus, as has his wife, Melania Trump. Both were already in quarantine after one of their closest advisors tested positive. The confinement of the president takes place in the middle of the electoral campaign and almost a month before the presidential elections of November 3rd.

It was the president himself who announced it on social networks this Friday, shortly before 7 a.m. (close to 1 a.m. in Washington, D.C.).

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” he wrote.

Hours earlier, the same president had also announced on Twitter that he and Melania were going to be quarantined after testing positive for Hope Hicks, one of the president’s closest advisors.
