The pandemic of the new coronavirus originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan has left in the last 24 hours 54,366 new cases and 690 deaths, bringing the total to 7.76 million people infected and more than 117,306 deaths, according to the balance published by the Indian Ministry of Health.
The number of active cases of coronavirus rises to 695,509 while the people who have managed to overcome COVID-19, the respiratory disease generated by the coronavirus, are now 6.94 million. The number of active infections has decreased from 748,538 counted on Tuesday to less than 700,000 this Friday, according to the local newspaper ‘The Hindustan Times’.
The Indian Ministry of Health has indicated that the accumulated rate of positivity in the tests is 7.81 percent of the total and the daily rate is 3.8 percent of the total tests performed. A total of fourteen states and territories in India are registering a higher than average rate of positivity.
“This demonstrates the need for aggressive and widespread testing capacity,” the Indian government department said. The three Indian states with the highest number of recoveries are Maharashtra, Kerala and Karnataka.
