The United States has recorded more than 4,500 coronavirus deaths in one day for the first time, amid a surge in infections and deaths that has led to negative records in the country in recent weeks, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The agency said the country has added 4,516 deaths in the last 24 hours, for a total of 380,796 deaths from COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, since the beginning of the pandemic.

He also noted that to date 22,846,796 cases have been detected, including 228,730 during the last day, which is also a daily maximum of infections in the United States.
