The United States is once again the victim of a shooting. This time there have been three, committed by the same person, in a short period of time. It has left at least seven people dead, specifically in the state of Georgia, in a massage parlour and in two spas.
At around 5 p.m. local time, Cherokee County police officers received a report of an attack near a massage parlour, where they found several gunshot victims, according to law enforcement captain Jay Baker, as reported by NBC News.
Baker said two people died at the scene of the incident and three others were injured and taken to hospital, where one of them died. The county sheriff’s office has released a photograph of a suspect in connection with the Cherokee shooting.
Separately, Atlanta police responded to a tip about a robbery and found three people shot and one fatality across the street, according to the city’s police chief, Rodney Bryant. According to Bryant, the locations where the victims were found were a spa and an aromatherapy spa across the street from each other.
Authorities have confirmed that most of the victims are Asian women. The perpetrator of the murders is a 21-year-old man identified as Robert Aaron Long, who was arrested tonight about 150 miles (250 kilometres) south of Atlanta.
According to authorities, Long is allegedly responsible for the three attacks, the motives for which had not been made public as of Tuesday night. Before his arrest, police posted images of the alleged attacker captured by security cameras on social media to ask for public cooperation.
