The predictions of Bill Gates, the magnate and co-founder of Microsoft, regarding the coronavirus pandemic, are always among the most listened to. The latest of them concerns the return to normality, a very recurrent issue on which he has already pronounced on more than one occasion, and which is now gaining interest again when the fourth wave threatens countries such as Spain, where the incidence has increased again on the eve of Easter.
In an interview for the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza and the TV channel TVN24, Gates suggested that thanks to the vaccines against COVID-19, the world should be back to normal by the end of 2022.
The American philanthropist has defined the coronavirus pandemic as “an unbelievable tragedy” and added that the only good news has been the access to vaccines.
Thus, according to Gates, “by the end of 2022 we should basically be completely back to normal,” he said.
Gates’ prediction is similar to that offered a few weeks ago by his wife, Melinda Gates, who in an interview for the CNBC network pointed out that total herd immunity “will be sometime in 2022”.
For the Microsoft co-founder, the reception of vaccines, especially in developing countries, will be the “only way to put an end to the pandemic”.
The billionaire has committed $1.75 billion through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in support of some manufacturers of vaccines, diagnostics and potential treatments to respond to this global pandemic.
