At least four people have been killed and two injured in a shooting in the U.S. city of Orange, California, on Wednesday.

In addition to those killed, a fifth person was injured and taken to a hospital, authorities said.

The alleged attacker was also injured and was taken into custody to a hospital, but his condition is not known.

A spokeswoman for the Orange Police, Jennifer Amat, told local media that the shooting occurred around 17.30 local time and that the alleged attacker opened fire upon the arrival of the officers.

According to the L.A. Times, the incident took place on Lincoln Avenue, where a two-story office complex with a series of small businesses is located.

Further details, such as motives or circumstances of the event, are unknown at this time.

This shooting in Los Angeles comes just a week after a gunman killed 10 people at a supermarket in Colorado in the largest such incident in two years.

A week earlier, another gunman attacked three Asian massage parlors in the Atlanta area and killed 8 people, six of them Asian women.
