India continues to be the country that is suffering the most from the effects of the coronavirus in recent weeks. The Government of India has confirmed a new daily high of coronavirus cases, exceeding 386,000 in a single day for the first time.
In addition, the death toll from COVID-19 remains very high, with nearly 3,500 coronavirus deaths reported in the last day, the second highest number so far. Specifically, there have been 386,452 cases and 3,498 deaths in the last 24 hours. In total, 18,762,976 people have been infected and 208,330 have died from the virus in India since the pandemic began.

India currently has 3,170,228 active SARS-CoV-2 cases in the country, 85,414 more than the previous day. In addition, 15,384,418 people have recovered since the pandemic began.
The Indian Ministry of Health has reported that 73% of the new cases have been detected in ten states, with the Maharashtra region leading with 66,159 infections, followed by Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, with between 35,000 and 39,000 infections. New Delhi has recorded its highest daily death toll of 395.
