Adalia Rose Williams has died at the age of 15. She was known for inspiring the Benjamin Button movie by suffering in real life from Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome.

The youtuber was born with progeria, also known as Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome. Children who suffer from it usually live a normal life for the first few months but, as they grow older, the disease accelerates their aging and they usually have a life expectancy of 13 years.

She came into it quietly and left quietly, but her life was far from it. She touched MILLIONS of people and left the biggest imprint in everyone that knew her. She is no longer in pain and is now dancing away to all the music she loves”, stated the statement released by the family.

She inspired the movie Benjamin Button

The disease suffered by Adalia Rose Williams inspired the movie ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ starring Brad Pitt. It tells the story of a man who is born with the body of an 80-year-old person and who, over time, grows younger. In reality, though, the process is not reversible.

“I really wish this wasn’t our reality but unfortunately it is. We want to say thank you to everyone that loved and supported her. Thank you to all her doctors and nurses that worked for YEARS to keep her healthy. The family would now like to mourn this huge loss in private.” the statement concluded.

The disease was detected at three months of age. She wanted to tell her story through YouTube, where nearly three million people followed her by watching her videos. On Instagram she accumulated almost 380,000 followers.
