The owner of Tesla and Space X, Elon Musk, confesses that he lives with friends. In 2020 he explained that he started selling all his properties
Elon Musk is the richest man in the world on the Forbes 2022 list. The owner of Tesla and Space X has confessed that he does not have a house to live and sleep in. He states this in an interview with TED founder Chris Anderson.
“I don’t even have a house right now, I literally stay at friends’ houses,” Musk said. As he explained on his Twitter account, he was selling his properties.
Musk has a net worth of $270 billion, according to Forbes. But he is “rotating through friends’ spare rooms”.
The confession came after a question about people being pissed off about the possibility that someone could amass the same fortune as 1 billion people at once. “I’m sure it would be very problematic if I spent billions of dollars a year on personal consumption, but that’s not the case,” he said.
Although he admitted there is one exception: his private jet. “If I don’t use the plane then I have fewer hours to work,” he said.
Where does Elon Musk live?
In 2018, he claimed he slept at Tesla headquarters. Last year, Musk indicated on Twitter that his primary residence is a $50,000 Space X rental near the company’s headquarters.
In 2021, Elon Musk was reported to be living in an Austin, Texas mansion owned by Ken Howery, according to ‘Wall Street Journal’. Ken Howery co-founded PayPal along with Musk, among others. In 2018, he bought the home for $12 million, according to Forbes.
His partner and mother of two, singer Grimes, admitted in a recent interview in ‘Vanity Fair’ that they lived in a “very insecure $40,000 house”. She further claimed that, when they lived together, she had a hole in her side of the mattress and that Musk told her to bring hers from home.
