Cortana is Microsoft’s intelligent assistant, which some users may have had or have installed on their Android phones. This assistant has been losing presence over time, being removed from Microsoft Launcher, for example. Last year it was already confirmed that it was finally going to be removed and now the final step has been taken.
Microsoft confirms that Cortana will stop working permanently on Android and iOS. It was news that had been expected for some time, but that the American company confirmed already last summer.
Microsoft launched Cortana back in the day with the hope that this assistant was going to compete with others like Google Assistant, Siri or Alexa. The problems of this assistant to speak new languages were a burden, which caused some time ago decided to find another purpose for this assistant and not compete with other assistants on the market.
As announced in July, it is today when the adventure of this assistant comes to an end, Microsoft confirmed today. Starting today April 1, 2021, the Cortana content it created, such as reminders and lists, will no longer work in the mobile app, but can still be accessed through the assistant on Windows. In addition, reminders, lists and tasks will automatically sync with the Microsoft To Do app, which you can download for free.
The app is no longer supported on Android and iOS phones. If you have the Microsoft assistant app installed on your phone, today it stops working on all mobile devices on which it is currently installed.
A farewell announced with which Microsoft throws in the towel with Cortana. The assistant never ended up taking off, neither on Windows nor on cell phones. Now the application for Android and iOS says goodbye for good.
