Finally, after months and months of rumors, Apple has officially unveiled the AirTag. These beacons will help us find everything we hook on them, with an appearance that matches what we saw in Jon Prosser’s leaks.

This is a completely new product from Apple, one more accessory for this division of Apple to continue to see good growth figures. We already know the idea thanks to devices like the Tile: thanks to their small dimensions, you can have them in objects such as wallets and key rings. Of course, you can also have them in backpacks, bags or suitcases.

The AirTags are made of stainless steel with IP67 certification and are based on Bluetooth Low Energy technology, with more efficiency and more coverage so they can be located. Like MacBooks already do, AirTags take advantage of Bluetooth broadcasts from other Apple devices, even if they are not yours.

Completely anonymously, AirTags are able to triangulate their position thanks to other iPhones, iPads or Macs nearby and communicate it to their owner in case of loss. Something very interesting, is that they support Siri and have speakers for us to find the items to which they are anchored. They work with battery, but fortunately, it is replaceable by the user.

The AirTags are customizable with emojis, so that we can differentiate between different units we have without getting confused. In addition, they have accessories to carry them, for example, anchored to a bag, so that they fit aesthetically wherever they are.

The location of the AirTag is done through the Search application: the accessory will appear as another device in the list of locatable terminals. All you will need is to have iOS 14.5 installed on your iPhone. Like the AirPods, they are very easily configured on an iPhone.

The AirTags will be released worldwide on April 30 (with web booking from the 23rd) with a price of $29. If you are interested in buying many, you can purchase a 5-pack for $99. They can be customized free of charge and free returns are available.

If you have money to spare and are interested in an AirTag Hermès keychain, Apple offers three models: AirTag Hermès keychain from $449, a bag tag from $379, and a luggage tag from $579.
