Revealed all the times it has been tried (unsuccessfully) to close the refrigerator in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
If you’ve played Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, one of the first things you’ll have encountered is that the door to the Milano ship’s fridge was open, losing all the cold and causing a waste of Star-Lord’s bill.
If you are good people, you will have spent two seconds of your time closing it. But you’ve probably noticed that the door is always open, and the next day, when you stop by the ship again before heading out on a new adventure… the cooler is still open. Who leaves it open all the time?
Actually, this is one of the best “running gags” of the game: no matter if you close it before, every time you pass through the ship’s galley, the fridge will be open.
You just need to press a button to close it, and you gain nothing, except some funny interaction between the Guardians of the Galaxy, with Peter Quill pissed off trying to find out who is the one who always leaves it open… while everyone is trying to hide the fact.
In reality, as we find out later in an argument between Drax and Rocket, the fridge door is broken, but no one has the time (or desire) to fix it.
Today, Eidos Montréal revealed via Twitter that between all players and all platforms of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the fridge has been attempted to be closed 18.6 million times.

Senior narrative director Jean-François Dugas, explained that this detail came from the idea of making the Milano look like a real place where people live. But specifically, he was inspired to make the joke by Modern Family and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
From Modern Family, an episode in which Phil Dunphy always trips over a step that he never fixes, and from It’s Always Sunny, one in which Charlie always moves a stool every time he passes by while working in a bar.
In fact, they went so far as to record themselves closing the refrigerator door to make sure the animation wasn’t too long, so that players would always feel the urge to close it every time they walked past… even though they knew it wouldn’t do any good.
Remember that this game came out in October 2021 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Switch (Cloud Version). It wasn’t a huge success, but now it’s on Game Pass and its creators are optimistic about the reception.
