This War of Mine is free to download for PC: the Polish government considers it a very useful tool for educational purposes
Two years ago the Polish education system decided that the video game This War of Mine would be part of the reading lists for schools in the country because of the way it narrated its events. Now it has taken an even bigger step after announcing that the game by 11 bit Studios will be available for free download from a website set up by the Polish government.
Although it is intended to become a reading that is part of the didactic process of students, anyone who accesses the website in question can click on the link that is available and download the title without any problem, if you have always been curious to give it a try.
Even so, it is indicated that it is intended for students and teachers in Poland who wish to use it in their language, ethics or social studies classes. In addition, it is added that it is forbidden to share, resell, use commercially or post the direct link to the game on file sharing sites. Along with this is an educational booklet, lesson plan and instructions on how to play.
As stated, the purpose of all of this is to portray the harsh realities experienced in war, with a story told through the decisions of the players. Because of its tone and the fidelity with which it deals with the subject matter, they consider This War of Mine a useful tool for talking to students about these conflicts and the behavior of Humanity.
