The fatal anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic is just a few days away. On the night of April 14, 1912, her voyage was cut short and ended under the icy waters of the ocean, and she is still there. Everything is ready for the expeditions to the wreck of the Titanic to begin in June.

Paid trips, halfway between the tourist experience and scientific research to get as close as possible to the remains that are still the object of covetousness and admiration.

The Titanic Survey 2021 expedition.

These trips, organized by OceanGate Expeditions, will initially be repeated once a year, and aim to document the state of the wreck, the debris field and all the marine life that surrounds it. On each of the trips, a select group of 9 chosen people will be able to travel with the specialists as Mission Specialists and assist as much as they can in the work.

Since Robert Ballard discovered the exact location of the wreckage on September 1, 1985, several expeditions and dives have been carried out and some of the wreckage has been recovered and is now in museums or traveling exhibitions. It should be remembered that the RMS Titanic was on its maiden voyage the largest and most luxurious passenger ship in the world and that it is sunk at a depth of some 3,800 meters. A difficult access for recovery and research.

The expedition will depart on June 27 from St. John’s, Newfoundland, aboard the Horizon Arctic and will take with it Titan, a mini submarine with capacity for five people and capable of reaching a depth of 4,000 meters, which is the one they will use to approach the wreckage. The Horizon Artic has 60 berths to comfortably accommodate the entire OceanGate Expeditions team, researchers and crew, with a large, modern deck, comfortable lounges and a gym.

If you are very excited about all this, you can always sign up for the next expeditions, as “simple” as entering the registration form and sending it. Once reviewed, OceanGate Expeditions will schedule an interview by videoconference to further investigate your motivations, interests and characteristics. If you are one of the chosen ones, you will become part of the crew of one of the missions. You will have to sign a training agreement and pay the training and mission support fee.

The price to join this Titanic voyage would cost about the same as the price of a First Class ticket for the maiden voyage, hopefully with better fortune, of course. The training and support fee for the Titanic Survey 2021 expedition is $150,000.
